Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam received, in the government palace this afternoon, MP Haider Nasser, in the presence of the head of the Supreme Relief Commission, Brigadier General Bassam Nabulsi. During the meeting, the issue of damaged buildings in Tripoli was discussed, in addition to the general conditions in the city.
Representative Nasser said after the meeting, “We met with President Salam, and we discussed with him the file of the damaged buildings in Tripoli and ways to put it on the right track, especially since the Arab Fund will support conducting a comprehensive survey in a serious, scientific and objective manner. This step may be followed by establishing a donation fund, with the aim of financing consolidation and reconstruction work.”
He added, "I raised with the President the issue of infrastructure in Tripoli, as the issue of dilapidated buildings involves more than one aspect. The infrastructure in the city dates back to the era of World War II, in addition to the noise and violations that have existed for years, and which have been overlooked. Therefore, this thorny file needs a comprehensive and integrated plan of action."
