US President Donald Trump announced that he had directed the Department of Defense to temporarily suspend attacks on Iranian facilities, noting that discussions with Iran are underway to determine the possibility of reaching a broader agreement. Trump stressed that Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon, and that he gave Iran a 5-day deadline to reach a settlement, after Tehran denied any intention to negotiate. He also stressed that there is a very strong possibility of eventually reaching an agreement. Trump said: “Whether we reach an agreement or continue the military operation, America and the entire world will soon become much safer.” He added, "We are systematically dismantling the Iranian regime's ability to threaten America. They no longer pose a threat to us." He continued, "At the end of the 5-day deadline, I see that the matter may certainly end with a very good agreement for everyone," considering that "the world will be safer soon," revealing that "discussions with Iran began on Saturday night."
