US President Donald Trump, following a press report that spoke of a stock shortage and a dispute with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the war with Iran, hinted at prosecuting anyone who promotes this information, stressing that the United States possesses huge quantities of ammunition. Trump stressed that the United States of America possesses "huge quantities of munitions, especially of certain types." He noted that large quantities of munitions are being manufactured and shipped to the United States according to need, adding: “Defense companies are building the largest number of factories and facilities in the history of our country.” On Wednesday evening, the Washington Post published a report stating that Trump asked the Secretary of Defense to provide clarification regarding a shortage of ammunition, during a government meeting held at the Camp David presidential resort on Friday. The newspaper quoted two sources as saying that Trump told Hegseth that he believed the munitions problem had been “addressed.” The Washington Post also reported that this deficiency prompted Trump to refrain from carrying out new strikes against Iran, despite his threat to strike the Islamic Republic forcefully.
