Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam received a delegation from the municipality of Fron, headed by Mayor Hassan Bazzi, in the presence of the President of the South Council, Hashem Haider. During the meeting, the conditions of the town and the needs of its people were discussed, and President Salam stressed that the return of life to Fron, as well as to other towns and villages in the south, is part of a national goal to which the state is committed, and that the government is working to harness the capabilities of state institutions to accompany the return of the people and stabilize them in their land, by securing the necessities of living and basic services and addressing urgent needs in coordination with the municipalities and concerned authorities. After the meeting, Faroun Mayor Hassan Bazzi made the following statement: “Today we were honored by the visit of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, at his invitation, which came very quickly in response to the needs of the town and its people. The meeting was special and excellent, and we presented to His Excellency the President the various needs of the town of Fron, and we received a great response from him, not only in terms of promises, but he assured us that work to implement a number of demands will begin as of Tuesday. We, as a municipality and the people of the town of Fron, thank the President for this generous gesture, and for the quick invitation that gave us the opportunity to present the situation of the town and the needs of its people directly. We examined a group of basic files that affect our people, whether those who are still displaced or those who have returned to the town and are still steadfast there, most notably housing units and alternative homes, water, roads, supporting walls, and securing a vehicle to transport waste, in addition to the municipality building and the Lebanese Civil Defense Center. We also discussed an important and complex file related to destroyed homes built on public property, and His Excellency the President confirmed work to address this issue quickly. We also discussed the agricultural sector, because of its great importance to the town and its people. The President has confirmed his interest in this file, and that work to follow up and address these demands will begin immediately. We thank the President once again for his interest in Fron and its people, and we hope that this follow-up will be translated quickly on the ground.”
