The Foreign Ministry rejected Colombia's decision to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan
Fady Mahouly
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Colombian government's recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, which remains an integral part of Syrian territory.
The Ministry stressed the need to respect Syria's sovereignty, integrity and territorial integrity.
It stressed that Israel's decision to annex the Golan violates the rules of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter, especially Article 2, Paragraph 4 thereof.
The Foreign Ministry mentioned Security Council Resolution No. 497 (1981), which stressed the inadmissibility of acquiring lands by force, and considered Israel’s decision to annex the Golan null and void and without legal effect.
