On Wednesday morning, the Israeli army blew up and destroyed the building of the Sheikh Naim Mahdi Public School, which consisted of four floors, in addition to the municipal hall, the children’s nursery, the town clinic, and the Makani Center in the eastern town of Zawtar. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education denounced the targeting of the public school, considering that the Israeli army “is actively removing educational institutions from existence,” especially in the areas it occupies or directs its fire at, noting that targeting schools affects citizens’ dreams of returning to their villages, given that the school is an essential institution in establishing the population in their villages and towns. The Ministry appealed to major and influential countries to intervene to stop what it described as “direct targeting of the foundations of life,” warning against attempts to deprive children of their right to education and a decent life. The army confirmed that it will continue to carry out its missions in the south, noting that it faces great difficulties as a result of these attacks, which hinder the completion of its deployment and the return of the people.
