Three Israeli Merkava tanks advanced in the morning from the direction of Birkat Baathail, east of Kafr Shuba, and reached close to the houses and the evacuated Lebanese army position. They carried out shooting operations towards the town, then withdrew under artillery cover and smoke bombardment.
