The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received this afternoon at Baabda Palace the Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, and conducted a horizon tour with him that dealt with the latest developments at the security and diplomatic levels. The two presidents also made an assessment of the post-ceasefire phase and the ongoing efforts to stabilize it, including the contacts made by the President of the Republic with US President Donald Trump, his Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and a number of leaders of Arab and foreign countries. After the meeting, President Salam explained that the discussion with President Aoun also dealt with the Lebanese readiness for negotiations, in addition to following up on the implementation of the decisions of the Council of Ministers, especially the decision issued in the last session of the Council to strengthen the extension of state authority over the Beirut Governorate and restrict weapons there. President Salam expressed his hope that, after the ceasefire holds, the displaced will be able to return safely to their homes as soon as possible, stressing that the Lebanese state will accompany their return and provide everything required of it in terms of facilitating this return, especially restoring destroyed bridges, opening roads, and securing supplies in the areas to which return will be safe and possible.
