UNIFIL on Friday condemned the killing of Corporal Rico Pramodia, who was seriously injured as a result of a projectile explosion at its base in Adshit Qusayr on the night of March 29. She said in a statement: “Corporal Pramodia, 31 years old, died of his wounds in a Beirut hospital.” UNIFIL extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Corporal Pramodia, the Indonesian Army, the government and the people of the Republic of Indonesia, on this painful and terrible tragedy. UNIFIL called on all parties to fulfill their obligations under international law, and to ensure the safety and security of United Nations personnel and property at all times. She said that deliberate attacks on peacekeeping forces constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and may amount to war crimes.
