The Washington Police Chief explained during a press conference that the shooter will face charges related to weapons possession and assault, noting that there is no clear information about the motive for the incident yet.
He confirmed that preliminary information indicates that the suspect was a guest at the hotel that hosted the party. He added that the ongoing investigations aim to identify the suspect's potential target.
In turn, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the suspect was carrying pistols and knives, and said that he was most likely working alone. She stressed in her press conference that “we have no reason to believe at the present time that anyone else is involved.”
