Vance added to reporters: “What we want is for the Lebanese government, the elected representative of the Lebanese people, to manage security in southern Lebanon, so that Hezbollah does not control the country, and the Israelis do not feel threatened, and thus the Israelis do not launch attacks on southern Lebanon or Beirut.” He continued: "We expect Israel and Hezbollah to adhere to the agreement."
