Serious cracks... and the evacuation of two buildings in Tripoli
Fady Mahouly
The Tripoli Municipal Police warned the occupants of two properties in the Abu Samra area, at the Baroud Junction and Al-Husseini Street, of the need to evacuate immediately, after cracks appeared in the two buildings that raised fears of a possible threat to the safety of residents.
The municipality confirmed that the measure comes as a precaution, with the aim of protecting residents and avoiding any possible repercussions in the event of worsening construction damage.
In February 2026, a residential building consisting of 12 apartments collapsed in the Al-Tabbaneh - Syria Street area in Tripoli, resulting in 13 casualties and 8 injuries. Following the disaster, the Tripoli Municipality evacuated two buildings in Al-Zahria due to dangerous cracks, and began procedures to evacuate 114 buildings at risk of collapse.
