Iran announced today that its ambassador to Lebanon will remain in the country despite the Lebanese government declaring him persona non grata and giving him a deadline to leave the country by Sunday, according to Agence France-Presse.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said during a weekly press conference: “Our ambassador will continue his work as Iran’s ambassador to Beirut, and will remain present there,” stressing that “the embassy in Beirut is still working.”
