Regarding feeding hours...what did Electricité du Liban announce?
Fady Mahouly
The Electricité du Liban Corporation reported that, in light of the exceptionally difficult circumstances that Lebanon is going through, especially the electricity sector, during the last two years, the corporation has worked hard to ensure the continuity of electricity supply for all citizens and state facilities, in most of these exceptional circumstances, exclusively through collecting bills and campaigns to eliminate infringements that it launched since the beginning of the year 2025, so that the electrical supply hours during the years 2024, 2025 and 2026 witnessed a noticeable improvement. Especially during the past months, as shown in the attached table.
The Corporation confirmed that it is continuously working to increase the hours of electrical supply by purchasing the necessary fuel for production plants, based on revenues generated exclusively from the Corporation’s own financial resources.
In this context, the Corporation notes that a number of official administrations, public institutions, and independent departments, most of them, still do not pay the financial dues they owe to the Electricité du Liban Corporation for their subscription and consumption of electrical energy, which amounted to approximately 270 million US dollars to date based on the new tariff, in addition to the consumption of Palestinian refugee camps, which amounts to approximately 30 million US dollars annually, which negatively affects the security of fuel and the increase in hours of electrical supply. Therefore, if public administrations, public institutions, and the rest of the public sector, as well as Palestinian refugee camps, commit to paying their financial dues, the Electricité du Liban can increase the daily electrical supply by approximately two additional hours.
The Corporation renews its call to all concerned parties and subscribers to pay their due dues regularly, as this has a direct impact on supporting the continuity of the public facility and maintaining electrical supply hours for the benefit of Lebanese citizens on all Lebanese territories.
