US President Donald Trump announced on Monday evening that no Israeli force would head to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, indicating that any forces that were on their way to the city had already been returned. In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said: “I had a very productive call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and there will not be any forces heading to Beirut, and any forces that were on their way there have already been returned.” He continued: "Also, through high-level representatives, I had very good contact with Hezbollah, and they agreed to cease all firing — so that Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel."
