The Union of Workers and Users of the Electricité du Liban Corporation held a meeting, to present “what was approved in the Council of Ministers, which includes approving the electricity plan, separating the corporation’s activities and restructuring it, in a step it considers a prelude to the dismantling of this national facility.”
She announced in a statement that she had “asked the Prime Minister and the Ministers to involve her in the amendments, especially those related to the rights and benefits and ensuring the continuity of the work of workers and employees. She also called on all directorates, when they are asked for any document or to prepare books of conditions with the aim of expanding the powers of service provider companies, to inform them before any significant action is taken to build on its requirements.”
She concluded: “In view of this recklessness and indifference, the union found itself forced to take escalatory steps, and decided to go on a warning strike on Monday and Tuesday, the 27th and 28th of this month, inside the work centers. Investment in production plants, alternates in the main conversion stations, the coordination department, and not to conduct maneuvers on the public network except through coordination with the union, and not to allow any work to be carried out except what constitutes a threat to public safety are excluded from the strike.”
